Vintage "THE PIED PIPER OF HAMELIN" by Robert Browning, illustrated by Kate Greenaway, hardcover picture book 1974, published by Frederick Warne And Co. Ltd in England. With dust jacket. Originally published in 1888 by Edward Evans Limited. Sourced within the Mornington Peninsula.

Into the town of Hamelin comes a quaintly dressed stranger who calls himself the Pied Piper. For the sum of a thousand guilders he agrees to rid the town of rats, with which it has been over-run. He plays on his pipe, the rats follow to their doom into the river Weser, the townspeople rejoice - but then neglect to keep their agreement about the thousand guilders. The Piper's revenge begins when he pipes three 'sweet soft notes as yet musician's cunning never gave the enraptured air', and all the children of Hamelin start to follow.

Good Vintage Condition, considerable wear and tear to dust jacket, inscribed flyleaf, light foxing to pages.
