Description

Antique Shishi Lion Dog Meiji red lacquer processional mask C1880's. Featuring hinged jaw. Wooden hand carved with polychrome design. Horse hair. Would have been used in Japanese theatre and religious street processions and festivals. From the Meiji Period (1868-1912). Made in Japan in C1880's-C1910's. Sourced within the Mornington Peninsula.

Good Antique Condition, sold in as-found condition, dusty and wear / loss to hair and ears.
