Antique "CADBURY BROTHERS LIMITED" velvet casket chocolate cocoa box 1890's. Featuring turquoise blue velvet covered, faded to light green. Lined in matching turquoise blue silk. Metal carry handle with metal latch clasp closure. Labels on the base read as follows: "Cadbury's chocolates, Cadbury's cocoa, Absolute pure" and "Cadbury's Cocoa, Absolute pure, stood the test of time, Cadbury Bros Ltd". From their 1906 range. Beautiful patina.

Sold in high-end stores for gifts and for export. The chocolate selection would be presented inside and when the contents had been eaten, the boxes were designed to be used as glove boxes and handkerchief boxes but could also be used as a trinket box or jewellery box. The box was manufactured at Cadbury's Bournville Factory in Worchester England and exported to Australia.

Made in Bournville, Worchester, England in 1890-1906. Extremely rare and highly sought after. Sourced within the Mornington Peninsula.

Very Good Antique Condition. Fading and wear to exterior velvet (esp edges), interior velvet original colour, still bright and vibrant.

Comes with an original letter dated mid 1986 from the packaging manager of Cadbury Schweppes, addressed to a previous owner.
